ARTIST STATEMENT
We are part of the world we live in. We understand the cycles of nature, yet we often believe we can ignore them. Our failure to recognize the finite nature of our existence sometimes leads to misguided interactions within our own species. Instead of embracing our similarities as human beings, we tend to focus on our cultural differences. Our identities are shaped by the land that we inhabit. Let us delve into our past, with its historical tensions, and learn from it to construct a future devoid of radicalism, fostering dialogical spaces where humans coexist beyond geographical and racial boundaries.
The materials and mediums I use are selected precisely to emphasize their inherent symbolic value to reinforce the message I’m trying to communicate in each series. During the execution of the work I’m interested in exploring and discovering new behaviors of the materials used; the final paintings are the result of a “construction process”, a ceremony of working layer upon layer until reaching the desired harmony.
